Qualitative Research Methods

About Course

This course will provide an introduction to qualitative research methods, including design, data collection, and analysis. Students will learn how to develop research questions, select appropriate data collection methods, and analyze data using various approaches. The course will cover different types of qualitative research including ethnography, case study, and grounded theory. Throughout the course, students will have the opportunity to apply these methods to real-world research problems and will be expected to complete a qualitative research project.

Course Content

Introduction to Qualitative Research
This module will introduce students to the fundamental concepts and principles of qualitative research, including the differences between qualitative and quantitative research, the research process, and the ethical considerations in conducting qualitative research.

Research Design and Planning
This module will cover the process of designing a qualitative research study, including selecting a research topic, developing a research question, and identifying the appropriate research methods.

Data Collection Techniques
This module will cover various data collection techniques used in qualitative research, such as in-depth interviews, focus groups, observation, and document analysis.

Data Analysis
This module will cover various techniques for analyzing qualitative data, including content analysis, thematic analysis, and discourse analysis.

Reporting and Disseminating Qualitative Research
This module will cover the process of writing and disseminating qualitative research findings, including the use of appropriate language and conventions, and the ethical considerations in reporting qualitative research.
